In this week's show, we do things differently. I'm joined by Lara Assoud Khoury, a typographer by trade, and we discuss the recently unveiled 'Arabic Initiative'. We break it down, article by article, and bring up Institut du Monde Arabe, the Museum of Islamic Art, calligraphy vs typography, Islamic architecture, branding and more in the process. We wrap it up with a discussion on a book Lara illustrated, Tabati, and her thoughts on how we perceive Arabic as a language.

In this week's show, we talk about false reporting, the Gulf Film Festival, uninformed opinions meet "slacktivism", skydiving, apps to rule us all, and a little bit about Kodak. Through Mohammed's game development experience, we talk about cultural identity beyond certain icons that must be shooed-into everything. From that point, we jump off to inconsistent censorship and more until we're reeled back in to the pervious thing about culture. Then, Abdulla expands on Mohammed's idea a bit more by bringing up a Japanese playing card game called 'karuta' and how we can make use of the idea to re-introduce kids to classical Arabian poetry. This spins off into a very deep discussion on the state of Arabic books, webdesign, and the sadly underused and beautiful typography. Finally, we critique TEDxDubai at the end.

We're back! ... Well, half of us are. None of the ladies showed up, so we decided to go with a very loose show as a warm up for next week's show. Today's show was, simply put, us riffing on some news and having a conversation. Hence, the 40mins of pure unorganized 'sewalef'.
We re-introduce ourselves since it's been a while, try and have a proper topic rundown but end up freestyling. Things that come up include teenage shenanigans, autism, charity, personal finance and more! Oh and there are some 'The Hunger Games' references too.

It's a menagerie of responsibilities and other things that take the fun out of life that made us (Abdulla) decide to do it. :)
This also gives us time for some reinvention! A couple of changes might/not occur when we're back like our format, recording quality, etc.
